Attached to the main Castle Welsh Crafts store is the very popular Lovespoon Gallery. Here you can find the world’s largest AND smallest hand-carved wooden lovespoons.

During the 17th Century the giving of wooden hand-carved gifts to loved ones was common amongst working people, but the gift of the lovespoon originated in Wales. They were given to a woman as an indication of the gentleman’s serious intentions. Designs were often influenced on things around him, and soon certain symbols became traditional with a traditional meaning.

Examples of traditional symbols include:

• A Cross – Faith and marriage
• Flowers and Leaves – Growing Love
• A Bell - Marriage

We offer an extensive range of carved lovespoons suitable for many occasions, including weddings, anniversaries and birthdays.
