More Than a Shop. A Family Tradition.

Castle Welsh Crafts began as a small, family-run shop with a simple aim: to share the beauty and meaning of Wales with everyone who walked through our door. For over four decades, we have stood proudly outside Cardiff Castle, meeting people from every inch of the world and helping them take a piece of Wales home with them.

From hand-carved love spoons and vintage pewter to locally made candles, jewellery and woolens, every item we have on our shelves is chosen with care. We are proud to work with Welsh businesses, many of whom have been perfecting their craft for generations. Their work, combined with our knowledge and love of the Welsh tradition, is what makes Castle Welsh Crafts what it is today.

Our Story Through The Years

1982

Castle Welsh Crafts first opened its doors in the shadow of Cardiff Castle, founded as a family-run shop dedicated to celebrating Welsh culture and craftsmanship.

1991

The world’s largest Welsh lovespoon was gifted to the shop by S4C, marking a major moment in celebrating the tradition on an international stage.

1994

Arthur crafted the world’s smallest lovespoon, proving that Welsh craftsmanship is just as impressive at the tiniest scale.

2001

The shop developed the world’s first St David’s Welsh tartan, creating a lasting textile symbol of Wales’ patron saint.

2006

A medieval section was added to the shop, transforming part of the space into an immersive step back through Welsh history.

2026

More than four decades on, Castle Welsh Crafts remains proudly family-run, continuing to share Welsh heritage with visitors from around the world.
